After consulting for a AESTHETIC CLINIC @ KLINIK QISTINA Center a common confusion is that Botox or Dysport injectables and dermal fillers are the same thing.  This INFO is to diffuse some of the confusion and to discuss the benefits of each as well as the differences between each.

Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable used to correct deep facial lines, wrinkles and hollow cheeks in the face for women and men. Injected just under the skin by a qualified medical practitioner, dermal fillers replace volume lost naturally over time from aging or weight fluctuation. The most common dermal fillers used are Hyaulronic acid fillers such as Juvederm Ultra Plus, Perlane, and Restylane however Radiesse (a calcium based filler) is very popular as well.  Dermal fillers are mostly place in naso-labial folds (the deep lines around the mouth), in the lips to plump them up and in the cheeks.

Muscle-relaxing injections such as Botox Cosmetic or Dysport (which are derived from Botulinum Toxin A, but don’t be worried as it’s perfectly safe in this form) are very effective to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead area, in between the brows (glabellar) or around the eyes. Muscle-relaxing injections effectively relax your facial muscles  and smooth out the treated area creases and wrinkles while preventing the lines from getting deeper.

So the main differences between Botox or Dysport and Dermal fillers is that Dermal fillers are used to replace volume in areas such as the lips or cheeks while Botox or Dysport is used to relax fine lines on the forehead or around the eyes.  Botox or Dysport will last 3-4 months while fillers will last 6-14 months depending on the injected area.

What is Botox?

Botox cosmetic is a simple, non-surigcal, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age.  It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostiridum botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet, and worry lines in the forehead to form over time.

Treatments start at RM700.  Please call our clinic 0129448246 to schedule a consultation appointment!

Botox Treatments:

One 10-minute treatment, a few tiny injections, and within days there’s a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brow, lasting up to 4 months.

Laughter, sadness, anger, and surprise – your face shows all of your emotions to the world.  And a lifetime of emotions means your facial muscles have been put to the test, leading to wrinkles, crow’s feet, and laugh lines.

All these signs of emotion can leave you looking older than your years – but thanks to today’s technology, we can significantly reduce their appearance on your face.  With Botox cosmetic treatment, you will be able to see a visible improvement to the wrinkles on your face – and you’ll have smoother skin for up to 4 months.

We administer small injections directly into the area you’d like to improve.  If you have sensitive facial areas, we’ll be happy to apply an ice pack or anesthetic cream to the area we’ll be working on.

The purified protein from the injection goes to work immediately on the facial muscles that are causing wrinkles.  You will begin to notice visible improvements over the next month.

Botox Cosmetic treatments can improve:

  • Worry lines in the forehead
  • Lines between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Moderate to severe headaches associated with TMD

What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror? Do You Feel Your Face Is Starting To Show Signs Of Aging?

Over time, factors like gravity, sun exposure, smoking and genetics take a major toll on your face and neck. As your face ages, a natural descent begins and the loss of elasticity results in deepening folds and furrows, sagging and a slackening of your tissues that tends to pull everything down. Wrinkles and folds form largely because the levels of collagen, a major component of the connective tissue in the skin that creates strength and flexibility, decreases over time. Today, many women and men are seeking facial rejuvenation procedures at a younger age to help maintain their youthful appearance for longer. But they are eager to avoid the risks, recovery, and telltale signs of invasive surgery. Now there is a minimally invasive, short recovery technique that can shave years off your age – without major surgery or visible scars – the ContourLift™ facial rejuvenation procedure.

    How does a ContourLift™ work?

A ContourLift™ is an innovative facial rejuvenation procedure designed to gently elevate sagging brows, cheeks and jowls. Due to the unique design of the delicate filaments used in the procedure, the surrounding tissues act to hold them in place without the need for visible scars. Your doctor will make a tiny notch, usually hidden behind the hairline or tucked behind the ear, and the fine Contour Threads™ are then advanced along the previously marked contours so they create a firm hold on the underlying tissues. The delicate filaments do the work of holding, by becoming fixated to tissue as they are softly smoothed into place. Once they are gently positioned, your body generates new collagen bundles that surround each filament to maintain the lifting effect. The result is a refreshed, rejuvenated and natural look without the telltale signs of major surgery.

    What areas can be treated?

The ContourLift™ facial rejuvenation procedure may be used for repositioning sagging cheeks, lifting droopy eyebrows, and elevating the jowls and neck areas. The ContourLift™ is truly an individualized procedure. Each procedure is customized based on your personal preferences, the quality and quantity of your skin, and your goals.

    Am I a good candidate?

The best candidates tend to be women and men in their 40s to 60s who have minimal sagging of the brows, cheeks, jowls and neck. The ContourLift™ is ideal for someone who wants a more dramatic result than can be achieved with Botox® and filler injections, or skin tightening laser treatments, but does not want to have traditional cosmetic surgery.

    Will general anesthesia be required?

No. The ContourLift™ procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia in your doctor’s office or clinic on an outpatient basis. If desired, light twilight sedation may also be used.

    Are there any risks?

As with all procedures, minor side effects may include numbness, slight asymmetry, irregularities, infection, bruising, swelling, and tenderness.

Side effects are usually temporary and easily resolved.

The procedure is entirely reversible and adjustable for up to one month after the procedure is done.

How long does the procedure take?

The actual length of the ContourLift™ facial rejuvenation procedure varies and will depend on the number of filaments used by your doctor. A typical procedure takes about an hour to perform.

What can I expect after the procedure?

You will be given instructions to follow to minimize discomfort and speed up the healing process. Ice compresses are recommended for the first 24-48 hours. You will have some mild bruising and swelling that usually settles down quickly. Most patients can return to work or normal activities in less than a week. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for three weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases, a single ContourLift™ procedure is sufficient to achieve the desired lifting effect. If additional lifting is required, a second procedure may be done at any time.

    How long does it last?

The longevity of a ContourLift™ depends on your age at the time of the procedure, the degree of sagging, the areas treated and the extent of the procedure. Over time, your facial areas will start to sag again. Many doctors report that results may last from two to four years. In most patients, additional filaments may be placed as needed to extend the results for even longer, and to keep up with the aging process.

Can I have other procedures done at the same time?

A ContourLift™ may be performed as a complement to other cosmetic procedures, such as dermal fillers, Botox®, liposuction, chemical peels and laser resurfacing, to enhance the results and provide a longer lasting rejuvenation.

Can I have a surgical face lift or brow lift in the future?

Absolutely. Developed by a board certified plastic surgeon, the unique design of the ContourLift™ facial rejuvenation procedure allows you to have a traditional surgical face lift or brow lift procedure whenever you are ready.

Is the ContourLift™ procedure FDA Cleared?

The patented ContourLift™ technology is FDA cleared for marketing.

Who is qualified to perform a Contourlift™ procedure?

Only doctors are qualified to perform the ContourLift™ facial rejuvenation procedure. All doctors are advised to complete an intensive training course before they offer the ContourLift™ to their patients to ensure the best possible results.

How do I know that I am getting ContourLift™?

The unique patented technology of the ContourLift™ has made it the worldwide leader in minimally invasive short recovery facial rejuvenation procedures. Unlike many other systems and products, ContourLift™ filaments are clear in color so they are not visible under fair or thin skin.

    What are the alternatives?

The easiest and safest alternative is to leave your cosmetic skin concerns alone and camouflage them with make-up. Laser resurfacing, IPL Photo rejuvenation, chemical peels, Botox® injectable collagen, hyaluronic acid (Restylane) , fat or Artecoll, Thermage® and cosmetic surgery are all alternative therapies to the ThreadLift™ procedure. Dermawave with ultrasonic and microcurrent energy enhances skin tightening and pigment balance.

    UDS Microdermabrasion : Lunch Hour Treatment..only 35 minutes!! @ RM140 (Student RM350)

UDS Microdermabrasion is one of the more recent skin-care techniques to have crossed over from Hollywood to the mainstream. It's being advanced as an "instant facelift" -- an effective alternative to costlier and more invasive procedures like plastic surgery, chemical peels and botox injections. Recently, more and more men are trying it, instead of pursuing cosmetic surgery.

So what exactly is UDS Microdermabrasion, what does it promise and what effect does it actually have on your face? Do you need a doctor, or is it something you can do yourself? In this article, we'll look at the science behind microdermabrasion, see what a treatment is like and find out what it does to your skin.

    The Basics

UDS Microdermabrasion is a general term for the application of tiny rough grains to buff away the surface layer of skin.. Many different products and treatments use this method, including medical procedures, salon treatments and creams and scrubs that you apply yourself at home. It's usually done to the face, chest, neck, arms or hands. Before we can understand how microdermabrasion does what it does, it's important to understand how skin works.

Your skin is made up of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is the layer closest to the outside world. It's a set of dead skin cells on top of another layer of cells that are in the process of maturing. The topmost layer is called the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum mostly acts as a barrier between the outside world and the lower skin layers. It keeps all but the smallest molecules from getting through.

When you put lotions or creams on your skin, some of the moisture passes through the stratum corneum, but not all of it. This layer is home to many minor skin imperfections like fine wrinkle lines and blemishes.

All of the action in UDS Microdermabrasion takes place at the level of the stratum corneum. Since it only really targets the epidermis (and not the dermis), it is more accurate to call it micro-epi-dermabrasion. Affecting deeper layers of skin would be painful and harmful, and it would risk permanently embedding the tiny grains into the skin.
